Museum Loans

BMAG’s programme of the temporary loan of works of art and other objects from the City’s collections to other museums for exhibition and display to the UK and abroad plays an important role in helping to raise Birmingham’s national and international reputation as a City and promoting Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery as an international cultural resource.

The loans programme during 2009-10 included: the loan of the BMAG’s works by David Cox (our collection is the largest in the world) to the Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, USA and nine works from our nationally significant modern British art collection were loaned to No. 10 Downing Street, as part of the Government Art Collection scheme to showcase regional museums.
